usual way. They offer completely different experiences, and depending on what you’re
looking for, your answer might be very different from ours.

Still, if we had to choose just one — we would go with Universal. Here’s why.

Universal Studios Japan Review: Our Favourite Park in Japan

Universal Studios Japan surprised us the most. From the moment we entered, the energy
felt completely different. It was louder, more dynamic, and overall just more fun.

One of the biggest highlights was Super Nintendo World. This area alone makes Universal
worth visiting. It’s incredibly immersive, interactive, and works for both kids and adults. It
really feels like stepping into a video game.

Another standout is the Harry Potter area. Even if you’re not a huge fan, the atmosphere is
incredible. Hogwarts looks amazing, and the whole section feels very detailed and well
designed.

And then there’s The Flying Dinosaur rollercoaster.

I didn’t expect it — but it ended up being the best rollercoaster I’ve ever ridden.
Easily.

We also visited during Halloween, which made the experience even better. There were
dancers, street performances, scare actors, and a completely different vibe in the park. It felt
alive the entire day.

We decided to buy an Express Pass for the main attractions (Nintendo World, Harry Potter,
Jaws). It was expensive, but with kids, it made a huge difference. Without it, we would have
spent most of the day waiting in lines.

Another advantage: Universal has longer opening hours. That gives you more flexibility and
makes the day feel less rushed.

Verdict: If you want rides, adrenaline, and a fun atmosphere — Universal wins.

DisneySea

DisneySea is something else entirely.

It’s probably the most beautiful theme park we’ve ever visited. The level of detail is insane.
Every area looks like it belongs in a movie, and the design is on another level.

We mainly visited because our younger child is a big Frozen fan, so the Elsa attraction was a
must. And for that alone, it was worth it.

Other rides we enjoyed were Rapunzel, Peter Pan, and the Raging spirits rollercoaster. They were
all good — but compared to Universal, they didn’t feel as exciting.

The biggest downside for us was the waiting time. 90+ minutes was completely normal for
popular attractions. Since we only had a regular ticket, we spent a lot of time standing in
lines.

We also walked a lot. By the end of the day, our legs were completely done.

Compared to Universal, the rides also felt less intense. DisneySea focuses more on
atmosphere than adrenaline.

Verdict: If you want Disney magic, incredible visuals, and a more relaxed experience —
DisneySea is perfect.
